Description

Chloe Hygiene and Baby Products is seeking a dedicated and proactive HSE Officer to oversee health, safety, and environmental compliance in our water production facility. The ideal candidate will ensure a safe workplace, enforce regulatory standards, and promote a culture of safety among employees.

Responsibilities

Health & Safety Compliance

  • Implement and enforce health and safety policies to ensure compliance with local and international regulations.
  • Conduct risk assessments and recommend preventive measures to reduce workplace hazards.
  • Ensure the proper use and maintenance of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)by all employees.
  • Investigate and document accidents, incidents, and near misses, providing recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Develop emergency response plans and coordinate safety drills.

Environmental Management

  • Monitor and enforce environmental regulations related to water production, waste disposal, and pollution control.
  • Ensure compliance with waste management, water treatment, and hygiene standards in production processes.
  • Conduct environmental impact assessments and implement sustainable practices.

Training & Awareness

  • Organise HSE training sessions for staff on workplace safety, fire prevention, first aid, and emergency procedures.
  • Raise awareness about hazard identification, risk mitigation, and best safety practices in the workplace.
  • Maintain records of training, inspections, and compliance reports.

 

Regulatory & Compliance Oversight

  • Liaise with regulatory bodies such as NAFDAC, SON, NESREA, and OSHAto ensure full compliance with industry standards.
  • Keep up-to-date with HSE laws, policies, and industry best practices to enhance workplace safety.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections of production facilities, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or HND in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, ISPON, or HSE Level 1-3 are an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in HSE, preferably in the food and beverage or water production industry.
  • Strong knowledge of workplace safety standards, risk assessment, and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent communication, training, and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to work proactively, solve problems, and enforce safety measures effectively.
