It was an exciting time and fun-filled experience at the Tenece group staff retreat, which ran concurrently in Lagos at Inagbe Grand Resorts and Leisure, and in Calabar at Tinapa Lakeside Resort. This retreat convened over 250 staff members of the Tenece group from our Ethiopia, Dubai, Ghana, Kenya, Lagos, Abuja, and Enugu offices.
The event kick-started with a warm exchange of pleasantries amongst staff from different locations. Far from the usual formal work lifestyle, people were excitedly chatting while getting ready for departure. The smiles, hugs and sounds of laughter were so hearth warming.
The 20 minutes adventurous boat cruise to the Inagbe Grand Resort and Leisure was a thrill for some team members and a scare to others – the aquaphobic ones. It felt like a comedy show on wheels riding from Enugu to Calabar in our convoy – The foods, drinks, display of unusual comic prowess and music chants helped in setting the atmosphere right for an amazing retreat.
Niyi Adesanya, Nigeria’s number one management consultant and CEO of FifthGearPlus was right there to coach us on “Being Competitive in 2020”. The team bonding activities ranged from indoor activities like video games, Ludo, snooker to outdoor sack racing, tug of war, penalty shots, cup stacking, egg race, handball etc.
The highlight of our retreat was “the award and carol night”, the fireworks were spectacular. A lot of staff got recognized for distinguishing themselves in different aspects of our daily work lives. We had different teams compete for best carol performance, every team did incredibly well but team “Techie Tribe” emerged victorious. Tenece group’s 2019 retreat will forever be one to remember, it was a perfect break from work, insightful, exciting and generally had an on-point organization. We had fun!
